White Onions - 1 ( cut into circle or rings)
Egg - 1
Milk - 3 table spoon
All purpose flour / maida - 1/2 cup
Red chilly powder - 2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
Bread crumbs - 1 cup (approx)
Method
1. Dry the onion rings using a paper towel.
2. Make a mixture of all purpose flour, red chilly powder, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
3. In a separate bowl, mix egg and milk.
4. First dip each onion rings in the flour mixture. Set aside on a wire rack for 15 minutes.
5. Then dip in the egg- milk mixture.
6. And finally coat with bread crumbs.
7. Deep fry the coated rings in hot oi in medium to low heat. Do not overload the hot oil with too many onion rings. Add a few at a time to keep the onion rings from becoming greasy and soggy.
Serve warm with dipping sauce of choice.
Notes
1. Honey Mustard and Ketchup are two standby dipping sauces, but salad dressings such as Ranch and Thousand Island also provide good flavor.
2. The batter can be used for other vegetables, too, such as broccoli florets, sliced carrot, sliced sweet potato, and sliced zucchini.
