Beef pieces - 1/2 kg ( cleaned and cut into bite zed pieces)
Cloves - 4 no:s
Cinnamon - 1 inch stick
Cardamon - 2 -3
Peppercorn - 2 -3
Salt - to taste
For the marination
Shallots - 12 - 15 ( made into a thick paste)
Ginger- garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
Crushed dried red chili - 1 1/2 tablespoon (adjust according to spice)
Coriander powder - 2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Pepper powder - 1 teaspoon
Garam masala powder - 1 teaspoon
Bite sized coconut pieces ( thenga kothu) - 1 cup
Vinegar - 2 teaspoons
Salt - to taste
For frying
Coconut oil - 4 table spoons
Curry leaves - lots
Method
1. Cook the beef pieces along with cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, peppercorns and salt in a pressure cooker for about 2-3 whistles or till the meat is half done.
2. Marinate the cooked meat pieces with shallots, ginger garlic paste, crushed dried red chilli, coriander powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, garam masala powder, vinegar and salt.
3. Let the marinade stand for 1 -2 hours.
4. Heat coconut oil in a pan, add marinated meat pieces along with curry leaves and coconut and fry on medium to low heat. This process may take around 25 - 30 minutes. Add coconut oil at any point if you feel the pieces are getting dry.
Serve warm with roti or rice
