This is a very easy dish to prepare and make a great accompaniment with almost anything.
Cooking time - 20 minutes
Ingredients
For the vegetarian Balls
Cabbage - 3/4 cup (finely chopped)
Carrot - 1/4 cup (finely chopped)
Beans - 1/4 cup (finely chopped)
Potato - 1 (small) ( boiled and mashed)
Spring oninions / Scallions - 1/4 cup ( finely chopped)
All purpose flour/ Maida - 3 tablespoon
Black Pepper powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Bread crumbs - 1/2 cup
Salt - to taste
Oil - for frying
For the sauce
Onion - 1(medium) (chopped)
Red bell pepper -1 ( chopped)
Garlic - 1 teaspoon (minced)
Ginger - 1 teaspoon ( minced)
Soy Sauce - 2 teaspoon
Tomato sauce - 2 tablespoon
Red chili sauce - 1 teaspoon
Vinegar - 1/4 teaspoon
Sesame seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
Salt - to taste
Oil - 1/2 table spoon
Method
Preparing the Veg Manchurian balls
1. Gather all the grated or finely chopped veggies(cabbage, carrot, beans, spring onions) in a bowl and add the mashed potato, black pepper powder, salt and all purpose flour.
2. Knead well to form a smooth dough.
3. Make small balls out of it and coat well with bread crumbs and deep fry in oil.
4. Repeat the same for the rest of the dough.
For the Sauce
1. Heat oil in a pan and add sesame seeds.
2. Add the minced ginger and garlic and fry for a while.
3. Add the onions and fry till slightly brown.
4. Add the chopped red bell pepper and fry till they are soft.
5. Add the soy sauce, red chili sauce and tomato sauce and mix well.
6. Add the vinegar and check for salt.
7. Serve the sauce with the fried vegetarian balls on top.
