Ingredients
For the Chukkappam
Rice flour - 2 cups
Coconut milk - 1/2 cup
water - 1 1/2 cups
Cumin seeds - 2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Oil - for frying
For the beef fry
Beef - 2 cups of beef pieces thoroughly washed and cut into small pieces
Ginger garlic paste - 3 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 table spoon
Red chilly powder - 1 table spoon
Cumin powder - 2 tspn
Salt - to taste
Garam masala powder - 1 tspn
Curry leaves - 1/2 cup
Method
For the chukkappam
1. Roast the rice flour in a pan.
2. In a vessel bring water and salt to boil. Add the roasted rice flour to it and mix rapidly.
3. Fry the cu min seeds in coconut oil and add to the flour.
4. Add coconut milk and knead the flour till smooth and elastic.
5. Roll into thin strands and then pull of small sized bits from each strand.
6. Make small balls the size of M&M’S. Deep fry till golden and drain. Set aside.
For the beef fry
1. Add all the ingredients for the beef fry (except curry leaves) with just a little amount of water in a pressure cooker and cook till half cooked. It should be dryish.
2. Then continue to deep fry in the oil used for frying the ‘Chukkappam’. Add curry leaves while frying.
3. Mix chukkapam and beef fry together.
