Toor dal - 1/2 cup
Chana dal - 1/2 cup
Shallots - 1/2 cup (chopped finely)
Ginger - 1' piece (chopped finely)
Green chilies - 2 no:s ( chopped finely )
Curry leaves - few (chopped finely)
Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
Hing/ asafoetida - a pinch
Salt - to taste
Oil - For frying
Method
1. Soak the toor dal and chana dal for 2 -3 hours
2. Grind these together to form a coarse paste. Do not add water while grinding.
3. Add the shallots, ginger, curry leaves, green chilies, red chilly powder, hing and salt to the dal mixture and mix well.
4. Make patties of these and deep fry in hot oil.
Serve warm
